The climate of Springfield is predominantly humid continental due to its location in the midwest. Spring and autumn are both mild but spring is a bit more unpredictable with the potential for severe thunderstorms. Due to the humid continental type of climate, the area experiences severe weather throughout the year including high wind gusts, large hail, flooding and occasional Tornadoes. To combat these occurrences the city of Springfield has implemented the All Hazards Early Warning System to ensure that residents are made aware of dangerous weather in a timely manner.

Touring Springfield: Airport and Transportation

There are two airports in Springfield, Missouri: the Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGF) and the Ozarks Regional Airport (WMH). From the main airport, Springfield-Branson National, you can get to downtown Springfield via taxi, shuttle, or public transportation. Taxi fares range from $15 to $30 and take about 10-15 minutes. There are also shuttle companies providing transportation services to and from Springfield-Branson International Airport for a fee of $27. Public transportation fares range from $1.50-$2, and take about 50 minutes. Unfortunately, there is no money exchange service at Springfield airport. However, there are several banks and currency exchange services located near or close to the airport, including US Bank, Bank of America, and Exchange Bank.
