The rest of the year is generally quite dry and sunny, with highs of around 30°C (86°F). The climate is variable, though, and can vary depending on altitude, with cooler temperatures at higher altitudes. The seasons in Pemba have an obvious effect on its landscape, which can be quite lush and green during the rainier months and rather dry and brown during the dry season. The rainfall averages between 1,100 and 1,300mm (43 and 51 inches) depending on the region across the island. Furthermore, the Indian Ocean brings much cooler temperatures and coastal breezes which usually cool things down in the evening.

There is just one airport in Pemba and its official name is Pemba International Airport. To get from the airport to downtown in Pemba, you can take a taxi which will cost around TSH 15,000 (approx. USD 6.5). It may also be possible to take a bus to the center of Pemba, however this will depend on the availability of buses. It is not possible to change money at Pemba Airport directly.
