Mahe Island operates on the same time zone as the Seychelles archipelago, which is four hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time. The official language of Mahe Island is Seychellois Creole, although English and French are widely spoken.

Mahe Island is the largest island in the Seychelles archipelago and is located in the Indian Ocean about 1,000 km (620 mi) east of mainland Africa. With a population of roughly 90,000, it is the most populous island in the entire nation. Mahe Island's climate is tropical, with a warm and humid year-round climate. Temperatures usually range from 24 to 32°C (75 to 90°F), but cool off significantly in the hills. A dry winter season runs from May to October, followed by a hot and humid monsoon season with heavy rainfall from November to April. Mahe experiences balmy trade winds year-round, which make for ideal windsurfing, sailing and kite-surfing conditions on the island’s many gorgeous beaches. The Seychelles also rarely suffers from serious tropical storms or cyclones.

There is only one airport in Mahe Island – Seychelles International Airport (SEZ). The airport is located at Pointe La Rue, Mahe Island.
You can reach downtown from the airport by taking a taxi. The cost of the taxi ride is approximately 40-50 SCR (Seychelles Rupees).
You can also change money at the airport, through the foreign exchange counters located at the Arrival hall.
