Kasane is a small town located in the northwest corner of Botswana on the Chobe River. It is the administrative center of the Chobe District and has a population of approximately 7,000 people. It is a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to the Chobe National Park, a large game reserve renowned for its elephant population. Kasane is in the Central African Time Zone (CAT) also known as UTC+2. It is one hour ahead of most of Botswana’s capital Gaborone. The official language of Kasane is Setswana, but English is widely spoken. Other languages spoken in Kasane include Kalanga, Subiya and Bashubia. The currency of Kasane is the Botswana Pula (BWP). The US dollar (USD) and South African rand (ZAR) are also commonly used.

Climate and Weather

Kasane is located in the north-eastern corner of Botswana, adjacent to the Chobe National Park and Angola. It has a tropical savanna climate with distinct wet and dry seasons. The wet season runs from October to April when temperatures are high and rainfall plentiful. During this time, humidity is also high. The dry season from May to September sees temperatures drop and includes less rainfall. The temperature variations throughout the year range from 26 °C (79 °F) in the wet season to highs of 38 °C (100 °F) during the dry season.
